The KFCS is aware of troubling posts shared widely this week throughout the nation on the social media platform TikTok. The posts refer to a threat to school safety across the country on Friday, Dec. 17, 2021.
The posts appear to be part of a national TikTok trend and did not originate in our school district. We wanted, however, to be proactive in addressing the trend.
Local law enforcement has advised us that the Oregon Sheriffs’ Association considers this threat not credible. There have been no reports of threats in our district, however, are closely monitoring the situation, and classes will continue as normal tomorrow, Dec. 17, 2021.
If you or anyone in your family knows or learns of any specific threats, or witnesses any suspicious activity, please contact law enforcement or your school administrator. Reports of potential threats also can be made anonymously to SafeOregon at https://www.safeoregon.com/report-a-tip/.
As always, thank you for your partnership as we work to ensure a safe, secure, and positive learning environment for our students.
Sincerely,
Keith A. Brown, Superintendent
Klamath Falls City Schools
