Strategic Planning

MISSION

100% Graduation is Our Expectation

VISION
Each Child Ready for the Next Grade

AIMS

1. Student Excellence

Increase the percent of students who meet or exceed proficiency targets on each state achievement test and on district proficiency grading systems.

  • Implement the High Impact Teaching and Learning Strategies (WICOR).
  • Utilize strategies to achieve 90% attendance for each student.
  • Consistently use formative assessments and data to improve student instruction. Use data to inform improvement efforts.
  • Partner with students and parents to set and implement individual student learning and growth targets.
  • Teachers will utilize the district’s Professional Growth and Evaluation system to maximize student learning.

Increase the percent of high school graduates from one year to the next.

  • Implement the AVID effective instructional reading strategies to achieve Common Core State Standards in literacy.
  • Clearly communicate with students and families about what students are expected to learn and do to reach proficiency.
  • Develop a district-wide culture centered around “all students being everyone’s responsibility.”
  • Identify at-risk students and provide supports necessary for their success.
  • Implement relevant required curriculum (most current district content adoptions) with agreed-upon supplemental materials.
  • Implement extended day and/or year plans for students not meeting requirements at grade level.
  • Improve in-building and cross-building student transitions.
  • Utilize the Tyler Pulse data warehouse (grades and attendance) at grade report time to identify students at risk for failure/dropout K-12.

2. Collaborative Excellence

Parent and community partnerships are increased as measured by an increasing percent of students who take part in two or more service projects per year and by an increase in the number of school volunteers.

  • Work with the Klamath Promise initiative along with community and parent partnering to increase the graduation rate.
  • Establish effective systematic two-way communication between parents, community, and schools.
  • Track effectiveness of communication via Excellence Indicators.
  • Tie careers to learning and establish more school-to-work experiences.
  • Increase community and parent involvement in all schools.
  • Acknowledge partnerships.
  • Set up multiple opportunities for students to improve Klamath Falls through student service projects at all age levels.

PLC implementation is effectively utilized so that at each grade level the following is true:

  • PLC’s plan for Core instruction that includes interventions and enrichments for each student.
  • High impact, effective teaching strategies are shared among teachers.
  • PLC pacing is followed by all.
  • Effectively use the PLC process to create formative assessments, analyze student outcomes and make adjustments to instruction based on the results.

 3. Operational Excellence

  • Monitor Excellence Indicator progress and use results to drive improvements.
  • All areas of the district utilize the PDSA process to drive improvement.
  • Effectively implement the new teacher and administrator evaluation plans so that the percentage of those being evaluated indicate the new tools and processes have helped them improve their performance.
