Open Enrollment Dates from March 1 through 31, 2016

Board Resolution

Parent or Guardian Information:

Open enrollment is an available option for parents throughout the state of Oregon. Under this law, parents have a one-month window (March 2016) to enroll their students in schools outside of their resident district.

We hope you will take this opportunity in March to enroll your student (s) in our schools. Under open enrollment you need only apply to the receiving district.

Unlike the transfer process, application for open enrollment is a one-time event for your child. Once this is done in March of 2016, your son or daughter is considered a permanent student in our system.  However, this would not preclude you from re-enrolling them in your home district should you decide to do so at a future date.

We look forward to serving your children in the 2016-17 school year.  Please call my office at (541) 883-4702, extension 2, if you have any questions.  We hope you choose Klamath Falls City Schools for your child. We will do everything we can to provide the best education possible.

Sincerely yours,

Dr. William M. Feusahrens
Director of Personnel

Forms, Criteria and Guidelines:

Inter-District Application to Transfer Form - Fillable PDF

Klamath Falls City Schools, in the spirit of open enrollment, has set up guidelines and criteria for student transfers.  The guidelines are subject to review and may be updated annually.

  1. The Klamath Falls City Schools has an open enrollment policy for grades K – 12.

  2. Requests for open enrollment must be made in writing (see reverse) and submitted to the resident district’s transfer officer by March 31, 2016.

  3. As is the case with all students who do not attend school in their appropriate attendance area, it will be necessary for parents and/or guardians to make sure that transportation will be provided to and from school.  Neither school district will alter the bus routes to accommodate transfers.

  4. The district shall deny regular school admission to nonresident students who are under expulsion from another district.

  5. Athletic/activities eligibility is dependent upon OSAA rules and guidelines.  Klamath Falls City Schools strongly recommends that you contact the Athletic Director (Mike Herron) at Klamath Union High School at 883- 4710 prior to enrolling or participating in any athletics/activities at Klamath Union High School.
