Annual Parent Medication Reminder

Dear Parents/Guardians:

As your students return to school next week, we want to remind you of the district medication policies to help keep all students safe at school. (Refer to the school handbook for more information),

  • Parents/Guardians need to bring their child’s medications to school and sign permission forms at the health/secretaries office. All medications need to be transported to and from school by a parent/guardian. Do not send medications with students. Medications cannot be given to students without the medication form signed by the parent/guardian.

  • All prescription and non-prescription medications must be brought in the original containers with the original prescription or label.

  • The schools cannot accept ANY expired medications. If your student requires an EPIPEN, Inhaler, or other rescue medication, please provide an unexpired prescription to your child’s school. Rescue medication may require specialized training. Please contact our schools’ nurse.

  • This year, because of Covid, we are requesting all rescue inhalers be brought into the health office for student use to help prevent the spread of respiratory illness through respiratory droplets. Please contact your school’s nurse if you have questions or concerns regarding your child’s inhaler or if your child uses a nebulizer.

  • Self-administration of medication means that a student must be able to take their own medication at school without requiring assistance from trained school personnel. The student must have the appropriate self-medication form on file in the health office to carry or self-administer any medication at school.
